Who would you like to help today?
The Young Enterprise Programmes are based on the principle
of "learning by doing" and each programme involves
practical, fun, hands-on activity, led by a Volunteer from
local business or the community working alongside teachers/lecturers
with specifically designed Young Enterprise programmes. Young
Enterprise Volunteers become part of an exciting and enjoyable
learning experience for the local community.
Through
becoming a Young Enterprise Volunteer, you can make a real
difference to the lives and potential of young people in your
area by helping them to understand the world of business and
prepare for their working lives.
Young Enterprise provides a volunteer pack containing information
on the programme and how to present/facilitate it. Volunteers
are not alone! Young Enterprise provides training and support
and for most Young Enterprise Companies two volunteers share
the responsibilities of the role.
There is no previous experience or expert knowledge required
of a volunteer, other than their own experience of work and
business and their enthusiasm. Young Enterprise Volunteers
act as role models from the world of work to young people
who have, in many cases, volunteered to become involved.
As well as offering a learning experience for students, Young
Enterprise programmes also bring learning benefits for the
Volunteers who are encouraged to develop their own skills
and knowledge alongside the students.
Young Enterprise Volunteers are welcomed from all walks of
life, and do not necessarily have to work in business. Many
Young Enterprise volunteers are retired business people or
those nearing retirement.
Young Enterprise Volunteers share in the learning experience
of the young people they support, exploring and developing
their own Enterprise Capability alongside the students.
